Public Nudity Laws – The public nudity laws vary from place to place. There are not only state laws to think about, but cities and towns may have their own anti-nudity ordinances.

New legislation pertaining to nudity comes up all the time. Unfortunately many nudity laws are poorly written, sexist and take away freedoms for everyone. Naturist activists, such as those who work with the Naturist Action Committee (NAC) will track legislation and take action to prevent or overturn anti-nudity laws.

Naturist Education Foundation’s 2015 Poll Gets Americans’ Take On Nudism, Nudity and Nude Sunbathing The Naturist Education Foundation (NEF) commissioned a U.S. opinion poll in 2015 to gauge Americans’ views on naturism and public nonsexual nudity and nude sunbathing. NY Laws On Topfreedom, False Arrests and Topfree Equality in NYC Like many U.S. anti-nudity laws, New York’s “Exposure of a person” law — Penal Code 245.01 — includes the female nipple when describing body parts that aren’t allowed to be shown / exposed in public.
